Practice in Painter.

Study with water brushes
leaf hair

I’ll be developing new stuff for my portfolio, I have decided to push the conceptual, costume design,  character design and general research side of things rather than solely showing detailed digital illustrations.

Here’s something I did today- a bit of costume design and colour study.

Tudor Goblin Costume

The Hoard

Waterhouse study. Corel Painter.

Using different paper textures a lot in this.

Waterhouse study

A head study referenced from “Lamia (on her knees)” by John William Waterhouse. Painted in Corel Painter.

Just found this nice Illustrator’s work.

I’ve been playing the old Tomb Raider 2 game a bit thanks to a patch on Tomb Raider Chronicles. I forgot how hard some of the levels were! I think the current Tomb Raider games still have a long way to go in scaring me as much as old ones did.

I’ve also been having lots of fun trying out colour combinations in Painter and making new brushes.

It turns out that there’s nothing drastically wrong with my shoulder (which I am very pleased about). The pain has been due to bad posture over a long period of time. In my case this was caused by stress, stress, stress and more stress due to certain events and people in my life over the last few years.

I won’t go into the gory details as they have no effect on me now.

I’m taking steps to improve my upper body strength and my posture, and already the pain has subsided just in the last few days.

2 hours work- just trying out a new faster technique I’ve been working on.

None of these sketches are actually anything to do with France, but I did them while I was visiting last week.
